In light of the recent events surrounding the “corona-virus”, we are taking a momentary break from bringing you excerpts from the soon to be published book “Lord of the Flies”. We will return at a later date.
For now, we wanted our readers to know that we are praying, along with so many other Christian organizations, for an end to the virus; a vaccine or simply the natural dissolution of it’s virility and for hope to gain ground amid all of the negative reports.
During this time of heightened concern over our physical well-being, we must consider our emotional and mental well-being, too. Our state-of-mind plays a large role in how vulnerable we are to physical maladies. A hope-based outlook will protect your mind from negative thoughts which may lead to anxiety or fear and undermine a healthy immune system. Just as feeding your body beneficial nutrients supports your immune system, so feeding your mind with beneficial information and healthy thoughts does the same. Rather than wondering about all of the “what-ifs” and the numerous things that are out of our control, that lead to fear and anxiety, consider a “refocus”.
Focus on: time well spent with family– play games, read books together to discuss, put puzzles together, play hide and seek; becoming a giver, rather than a taker; reaching out to others one-on-one via texting or phone; staying connected; incorporate prayer daily; read scriptures that are filled with hope and promises that bring peace. Do a word study on HOPE! 🙂
Here are a few to meditate on:
Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 15:13, Deuteronomy 31:6, Psalm 33:18, Psalm 71:5
